I condemn the killing of Ricardo Alcides Avila and urge the authorities to investigate this crime to ensure that everyone responsible is brought to justice. Impunity must not be allowed to prevail for acts of violence targeting journalists, who serve people’s need for information and contribute to democratic debate.
